چکیده
Beaumontia grandiflora Wall. (Apocynaceae) is an ornamental plant cultivated in Egypt. Investigation of the chemical constituents of the aerial parts of B. grandiflora Wall. in pet. ether extract led to isolation and identification of twelve fatty acids in which linoleic acid (29.60%) and Palmitic acid (19.12%) are the main acids. The unsaponifiable fraction was found to contain a series 14 27 of hydrocarbons (n-C – n-C ) in addition to â-sitosterol, stigmasterol, cholesterol, campasterol and á-amyrine.The flavonoidal constituents were isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of the alcoholic extract. Four flavonoids were identified as; quercetin i, quercetin-3-O-galactoside ii, diosmetin-7-Orhamnoside iii and kaempferol-3-O-neohesperidoside iv. The crude extracts (total alcoholic, ethyl acetate, and butanol extracts) and the isolated compounds were screened for their antioxidant activity using DPPH radical Scavenging method. Ethyl acetate extract and compound 1 showed high antioxidant activity compared to Trolox (standard antioxidant compound) 91, 89% respectively.

The present work was designed to study the antioxidant activity and to identify the main active components of the essential oil of ajowan (Trachyspermum copticum) fruit. GC and GC-MS analyses of the essential oil showed the presence of eight compounds. The main constituents of the oil were thymol (43.7%), p-cymene (26.8%), and γ-terpinene (24.9%). The antioxidant and free radical scavenging act...
متن کاملAntioxidant Activity and Chemical Composition of the Essential oil of Ducrosia anethifolia (DC.) Boiss. from Neyriz
Ducrosia anethifolia (DC.) Boiss. is belongs to the Apiaceae family. It is one of the three species of Iranian Ducrosia Boiss. species growing wild in several areas of the country. In this research, we extracted the essential oil and it analyzed by GC/MS. The analysis of essential oil from leaves of D. anethifolia about 19 constituents was identifed and percentage composition was determined (94...
